We have had several friends participate in the past Dancing with the Stars event. My brother John and I attend the show last year at JPAC. I had already decided that I wanted to be a part of this exciting event. Though my brother was apprehensive, after watching the dancers last year, he decided he would dance with me.
We have been taking lessons at Dance Sport in Madison for the last eight weeks. We were paired with two amazing dance instructors, Tom and Deb. After eight weeks of practice we have our routine down quite well. On March 24th, Tom and Deb took us to Oshkosh, WI. for a dance competition. They thought it would be a good experience for us to dance in front of an audience. Though we were not part of the competition we got to dance in front of 200 professional dancers. The excitement of it all was amazing!
We have had two meat raffle benefits to raise money for Alzheimers. We raised over $5,000 dollars at these two events alone. To date we have raised over $6,000 dollars.
John and I are both retired from GM. I recently went back to work for GM on special assignment in Ft. Wayne, IN. I travel back to Wisconsin every weekend to prepare for the Dancing with the Stars Event. It has been a worthwhile experience and such a worthy cause. John and I have an aunt that passed away from Alzheimer’s several years ago, so it has affected us personally. John and I have lived and been involved in the committee all our lives. We are so looking forward to this event and so grateful for all our friends and family that have sponsored us. We expect to see them all on April 28th to cheer us on!
