In 2014, the Janesville Performing Arts Center (JPAC) will be celebrating its 10th anniversary as a professional home venue for local arts groups and as a center for community members to become involved in the arts through performances, lectures, gallery exhibits, non-arts public rentals, and educational activities. The organization is deeply committed to disciplined strategic planning guided by the original strategic plan (2004-2008) followed by the second five year plan (2009-2013). Each year, goals have been set and action plans executed to achieve those strategic goals.
Late in 2012, the Board accelerated the third strategic planning process due to the combination and creation of new opportunities, changing demographics and emerging operating challenges. The process commenced in January 2013 with the Board focused on benchmarking, resident group feedback and reviewing past performance to establish the 2013-2017 strategic plan. We will be reviewing the plan at the July session.
Since opening in 2004, JPAC and its resident groups have welcomed 201,234 patrons to 817 events, becoming an important anchor in Janesville & Rock County’s revitalization efforts, along with several other downtown partner organizations such as Rotary Gardens, the Janesville Jets and the Armory. Through the ongoing efforts of several downtown organizations, businesses, restaurants and community leaders, over 150,000 people annually visit the Janesville Mile who might not have ventured downtown 25 years ago. JPAC is committed to being a strong partner in this ongoing effort and believes the 2013-2017 strategic plan is a critical tool moving forward.
