JPAC is happy to announce the 2013-2014 School Time Inspire Series!
This school time matinee series is a culmination of efforts from three separate and distinct arts non-profit organizations in Janesville, WI: Stage One, Inc., Spotlight on Kids, and the Janesville Performing Arts Center.
These performances offer cultural programming for area students that either ties directly into school the curriculum or provides an opportunity for artistic exposure. Please find grade level recommendations below in order to determine which performances fits the needs of your classroom. All performances are approximately 60 minutes, unless otherwise noted.
The upcoming 2013-2014 School Time Inspire Series Performances are:
Ballet Folklorico National

Ballet Folklórico Nacional of Milwaukee is an innovative, theatrical body of dancers committed to the preservation of one of the richest artistic manifestations of tradition and culture in Mexico – “El Folklore”. The group was founded by enthusiastic dancers with different degrees of experience in Mexican folk dance and traditional Aztec dance, their mission is to promote Mexican Folklore dance with quality and authenticity. Mexican folklore is a continually evolving dance form based on tradition and ritual that touches the performer and audience’s soul. The Ballet Folklórico Nacional brings tradition, art, culture, and history to all its audiences. Every performance lights up the stage with its dazzling costumes and colorful depictions of Mexico’s diverse culture and folklore. The group offers an array of dances from different regions of Mexico complete with traditional music, attire and enthusiasm!
Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, produced by Stage One, Inc.

A version of the classic Christmas story novella by English author Charles Dickens, first published by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843. As miserly old Ebenezer Scrooge falls asleep in his dreary home on Christmas Eve, three ghosts appear, each revealing to Scrooge the wrong doings of his life and what will happen if he continues in his evil ways. He is racked with fear and remorse and sets out on Christmas Day to bless with his newfound generosity all those whom he has neglected and abused. Dickens’ classic masterpiece will delight and brighten your holiday season with beautiful carols and a timeless message of hope, peace, love, and the true meaning of the holidays.

Rockasauras Rex: Read Like a Rockstar

Who is Rockasaurus Rex? A 7 foot dinosaur who loves to read, write and ROCK!! He’s joined onstage by award winning musician Thaddeus Rex. Together they entertain with hilarious antics, rockin’ tunes, and a contagious enthusiasm for reading. A high energy rock concert you’ll never forget, with award winning songs, a drumming dinosaur, marvelous mischief, interactive antics, and much much more. Join us, and your kids will be begging to read, write & roar Like a Rock Star! After leaving the Emmy winning PBS Kids show, “The Friday Zone,” Thaddeus started writing and performing full time. He’s since won more than 20 awards, including a Grand Prize in The John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the James Patterson PageTurner Award.
